Introducing the RAG System

The Risk Profile provides a simple RAG (Red, Amber & Green) traffic light system for reporting risks within a project.

There are lots of debates on the internet and in project management circles what the definitions are and HORIZON PPM leaves it to users to agree the parameters used before something progresses from one state to another. The general interpretation is...

 Red indicates things are broken

Amber indicates things are at risk

 Green indicates things are ok

Risk Categories

HORIZON PPM provides the ability to track risk across the following categories..

Overall. This overall risk indicator is represented in portfolio views - alongside the associated risk commentary.

Progress. An indicator comparing project's progress and velocity compared to the schedule and timeline.

Finance. An indicator of project spend (past and forecast) compared to agreed budgets.

Risk. An indicator delivery risk within the project activities and actions.

Scope/Quality. An indicator of the quality and/or scope of outputs compared to requirements and expectations.

Accessing the Risk Profile

The Risk Profile is found on the Project Home

And is also accessible from the left-hand side navigation bar

The Risk Profile Summary

The summary page displays theRAG indicators, the latest commentary and the date last updated.

Updating the Risk Profile

Clicking into the categories provides an opportunity to change the RAG indicator and (optionally) provide a suitable commentary - typically providing a rationale for the selected RAG light, especially if non-Green.
